What is a "strike"?
A strike in bowling is when a player knocks down all 10 pins with their first roll in a frame. It is considered one of the best outcomes in the game, as it allows the player to earn the maximum score for that frame. When a player scores a strike, they receive 10 points plus the total number of pins knocked down in their next two rolls. A strike helps build a higher score, and it is a key goal in both recreational and competitive bowling. In ten-pin bowling, scoring a strike is marked with an "X" on the scorecard.

What is a "strike"?
A strike in baseball or softball is a pitch that the batter either swings at and misses, or does not swing at but the umpire decides it is within the strike zone. The strike zone is the area over the plate, typically between the batter's knees and chest. If the batter gets three strikes during their turn at bat, they are out. A strike helps the pitcher by counting against the batter and making it more difficult to reach base. A pitch is also called a strike if the batter swings and hits the ball, but the hit does not result in a fair play.
