The eyeball is a complex sensory organ located within the eye socket. It consists of various structures that work together to facilitate vision. The outermost layer, the sclera, provides protection and maintains the shape of the eyeball. The cornea, a transparent dome-shaped structure, refracts light entering the eye. Behind the cornea, the iris controls the amount of light reaching the inner structures. The lens further refracts light to focus it onto the retina. The retina, composed of specialized cells, detects light and converts it into electrical signals. These signals are then transmitted to the brain via the optic nerve, allowing us to perceive visual information. The eyeball is a remarkable organ that enables us to see and interpret the world around us.
