What is a "quire"?

A quire is a set of several sheets of paper folded together to form a group of pages in a book. Traditionally, a quire consists of 24 or 25 sheets, which, when folded, create 48 or 50 leaves, or 96 to 100 pages. In bookbinding and printing, quires are used to assemble the pages of a book before they are sewn or bound together. This grouping method helps in organizing the content and ensures that all pages are aligned properly within the book.
