What is "scalp"?
The scalp is the area of skin on the top of the head that covers the skull. It is richly populated with hair follicles and serves as the anchor for the hair strands. The scalp provides protection to the underlying structures of the skull and serves as a barrier against external elements. It contains blood vessels, nerves, and sebaceous glands that contribute to the health and maintenance of the hair.
