What is a "Pulaski"?

A Pulaski is a type of hand tool commonly used in forestry and firefighting. It combines the features of an axe and a hoe, with a long wooden or fiberglass handle and a dual-ended metal head. One side of the head has a flat axe blade for chopping, while the other side has a hoe-like blade for digging or trenching. Pulaskis are often used to create firebreaks, clear brush, or dig up soil, and they are especially effective in preventing wildfires by removing vegetation and making it harder for fires to spread.
