What is "soaring"?

Soaring is the practice of flying a glider or sailplane by using natural air currents, like warm air rising or wind blowing over hills. The pilot does not need an engine but instead glides in these air currents to stay up in the sky. By finding and riding these areas where the air rises, they can maintain or even gain altitude, allowing for long flights with minimal effort. Soaring requires skill in reading the weather and controlling the glider to make the most of these air currents.
