What is a "filly"?
A filly is a young female horse, typically under the age of four. Unlike adult female horses, called mares, fillies are still in their early stages of growth and development. They are often trained for racing or other activities once they reach an appropriate age and maturity. In horse racing, fillies can compete in their own category or alongside male horses, depending on the event.
