What is "adrenal"?

The adrenal glands are small triangular-shaped endocrine glands located on top of each kidney. They consist of two distinct regions: the outer adrenal cortex and the inner adrenal medulla. The adrenal cortex produces hormones called corticosteroids, which play a vital role in regulating various physiological processes, including metabolism, immune response, and stress response. The adrenal medulla produces adrenaline and noradrenaline, which are involved in the body's fight-or-flight response to stress and help regulate blood pressure and heart rate.
