BASE jumping
01
the sport of parachuting from a fixed structure or cliff
What is "BASE jumping"?
BASE jumping is an extreme sport where participants jump from fixed objects such as buildings, bridges, cliffs, or towers, using a parachute to break their fall. The acronym BASE stands for the four types of objects from which jumps are made: Building, Antenna, Span (bridge), and Earth (cliff). Unlike traditional skydiving, BASE jumping involves much lower altitudes, and the parachute is deployed almost immediately after jumping. This high-risk activity requires precision, skill, and experience, as the jumps are typically made from locations where there is little room for error.
