Fag hag is a slang term that emerged in mid-20th-century English, particularly in North American gay communities, to describe a woman—usually heterosexual—who enjoys or seeks out the company of gay men. The term combines "fag," a derogatory word for a gay man, with "hag," a word for an old or unpleasant woman, originally giving it a mocking or slightly insulting tone.
