What is "sacrum"?
The sacrum is a triangular-shaped bone formed by the fusion of five vertebrae known as the sacral vertebrae, located at the base of the spine, between the two pelvic bones. The sacrum provides stability and support to the pelvis, connecting the spine to the hip bones. It acts as a strong foundation for the vertebral column and helps transmit the weight of the upper body to the lower limbs. The sacrum also plays a role in protecting the delicate spinal cord and nerve roots that pass through it.
