What is a "joust"?
A joust in volleyball occurs when two players, one from each team, meet at the net and try to push the ball down onto the other team's side. This usually happens when both players are attempting to block or attack the ball at the same time, and they end up in a physical contest with their hands or arms. The player who can control their position and force the ball to the other side wins the joust. It requires strength, timing, and determination to win in these situations.
Example

She won the joust by pushing the ball past the opponent's hands.
