What is a "walrus"?
A walrus is a large marine mammal that belongs to the family Odobenidae. They have a distinctive appearance with their large, curved tusks, flippers, and thick blubber. Walruses are found primarily in the Arctic regions of the Northern Hemisphere and spend much of their time in the water, feeding on clams, mussels, and other marine invertebrates. They are social animals and often congregate in large herds on land or ice floes. The male walruses can weigh up to 1.5 tons and have a characteristic large size and long tusks, which they use for a variety of purposes, including defense, social dominance, and to help them climb onto ice floes.
