the batting turn of a team during which their players attempt to score runs against the bowling of the opposing team
What is an "innings"?
An innings in cricket refers to the period during which a team bats, aiming to score as many runs as possible. Each team has one or two innings, depending on the type of match. In a single innings, all players get a chance to bat until they are out, or the team’s allotted number of overs is completed. The team that bats first tries to set a challenging total, while the opposing team aims to beat that score. An innings ends when all the batters are out or the set number of overs is bowled.
