Chamois

What is a "chamois"?

Chamois are a type of small to medium-sized mountain antelope known for their agility and remarkable ability to traverse rugged, rocky terrains with ease. They have a compact body with short legs and a stocky build, covered in a thick and dense coat that provides insulation in harsh alpine environments. Chamois are typically brown in color during the summer months, but their coats may change to a lighter color, such as grey or white, during the winter to blend in with the snowy landscapes. They have distinctive facial markings, including black stripes running from their eyes to the muzzle, and often have small, curved horns that are characteristic of both males and females. Chamois are herbivores and feed on a variety of alpine vegetation, such as grasses, herbs, and shrubs.
