What is a "parry"?
A parry in fencing is a defensive move where a fencer uses their sword to block or deflect an opponent’s attack. The goal of a parry is to prevent the opponent from landing a successful strike while maintaining control of the sword and preparing for a counterattack. Parrying can be done with various parts of the sword, depending on the type of attack, and it requires quick reactions, good timing, and proper technique.
