Mid-on
01

a fielding position on the cricket field, positioned straight ahead and closer to the bowler than the batsman on the off side

What is "mid-on"?

In cricket, mid-on is a fielding position on the side of the pitch where the batter faces. The fielder in this position stands about halfway between the bowler and the boundary line. Their job is to stop balls hit to the side of the field and try to stop the other team from scoring. This position is helpful when the batter hits the ball toward that side, and the fielder must be quick to stop the ball and throw it back to the bowler or the wicketkeeper.
