What is a "lid"?
A lid is a cover or top that fits securely over the opening of a pot, pan, or other cooking vessel. It is used to trap heat and moisture during cooking, which helps to cook food evenly and retain its flavors and nutrients. Lids come in various shapes and sizes to fit different pots and pans, and they are typically made of the same material as the cooking vessel, such as glass, metal, or silicone. Some lids have handles or knobs for easy lifting and removal, while others may have built-in features like vents or steam holes to allow excess steam to escape.

What is a "lid"?
A lid is the top cover of a piano or similar instrument that can be opened or closed. On a piano, the lid can be raised to allow more sound to escape and improve the instrument's volume and resonance. When closed, it helps protect the keys and internal components from dust and damage. The lid is usually hinged and can be adjusted to control how much sound is projected or to simply cover the instrument when it is not in use.
