In AM radio, the audio signal changes the amplitude, or power, of the carrier wave, while the frequency remains constant. This technique is commonly used for speech and talk radio, but it is more affected by interference from noise and weather conditions compared to frequency modulation (FM). AM signals can travel long distances, making them ideal for reaching wide areas, but the sound quality is often less clear than FM.
