What is a "pedestrian hybrid beacon"?
A pedestrian hybrid beacon is a special type of traffic signal designed to help pedestrians cross busy roads safely. It consists of a set of lights that are activated when a pedestrian presses a button to cross the street. When activated, the beacon shows yellow lights to warn drivers to slow down and a red light to stop traffic, allowing pedestrians to cross safely.
