What are "dual controls"?
Dual controls refer to a system in vehicles, usually found in driving schools or for special needs vehicles, where both the driver and an instructor can operate the vehicle. These controls allow the instructor to have access to the brake, accelerator, and sometimes the steering wheel, giving them the ability to intervene if needed. This setup helps teach new drivers or allows instructors to guide students safely through driving lessons. Dual controls can also be used in vehicles adapted for disabled drivers to ensure safety and ease of use.
Example
In driving schools, cars are equipped with dual controls so that instructors can intervene if necessary during lessons.
The dual controls in airplanes enable both the pilot and co-pilot to manage the aircraft's functions during flight.
When learning to drive, understanding how dual controls work helps ensure safety and effective communication between the student and instructor.
