越位, 越位规则
a rule violation where a player is positioned improperly, usually ahead of the ball or puck, in a way that is not allowed
What is an "offside"?
An offside is a rule violation in certain team sports, such as soccer and hockey, where a player is positioned in a way that gives them an unfair advantage. In soccer, for example, a player is offside if they are closer to the opponent's goal line than both the ball and the second-to-last defender when the ball is passed to them. Being offside results in a free kick or a penalty for the opposing team. The offside rule helps to maintain fairness in the game by preventing players from "waiting" near the goal for easy scoring opportunities.
Example
The referee called an offside during the soccer match.
She was flagged for an offside just before she scored the goal.
