What is "Codenames"?
Codenames is a word-based party game played by two teams, each consisting of at least two players. The goal is to guess all of your team's words, called "codenames," on the board before the opposing team does. The board consists of 25 words, and one player from each team, called the "spymaster," gives one-word clues that are related to some of the words on the board. Their teammates then try to guess the correct words based on the clue, but they must avoid words belonging to the opposing team or the assassin word, which ends the game immediately if guessed. The game is won when a team successfully guesses all their words. Codenames emphasizes teamwork, deduction, and word association.
