What is "gynecologic cancer"?
Gynecologic cancer refers to cancers that originate in the female reproductive system, including the cervix, ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, vagina, and vulva. These cancers can develop in different parts of the reproductive organs and may present with various symptoms depending on the specific type and stage of cancer. Symptoms may include abnormal vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain or pressure, changes in bowel or bladder habits, abnormal vaginal discharge, or a lump in the pelvic area. Treatment options for gynecologic cancer depend on factors such as the type, stage, and location of the cancer, but may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy. Early detection and treatment are crucial for improving outcomes and reducing the risk of complications.
