Ornithosis can vary in seriousness, with some cases causing mild flu-like symptoms and others leading to more serious respiratory illness or pneumonia. Treatment typically involves antibiotics, and preventive measures include avoiding contact with infected birds and practicing good hygiene when handling birds or cleaning cages.
