What is "pharyngology"?

Pharyngology is a medical specialty that focuses on the study and treatment of conditions related to the throat and the structures surrounding it, including the tonsils, which are small collections of tissue located on either side of the back of the throat, and the base of the tongue. Pharyngologists, specialists in this field, diagnose and manage various issues such as sore throat, tonsillitis, and throat infections. They may also address more complex conditions such as swallowing disorders and breathing issues during sleep.
