What is a "lining"?
A lining is a layer of fabric that is attached to the inside of a garment or other textile product. The primary purpose of a lining is to provide a smooth and comfortable surface against the skin and to prevent the outer fabric from clinging or wrinkling. Linings can also add warmth, structure, and durability to a garment. They may be made from a variety of materials such as silk, cotton, polyester, or a combination of these.
