What is a "mirid"?

A mirid is a type of insect belonging to the family Miridae. Mirids are small to medium-sized bugs with slender bodies and distinctively shaped antennae. Mirids feed on plant tissues, including leaves, stems, and fruits, using their piercing-sucking mouthparts to extract plant juices.
