pronghorn
a unique and distinctive mammal found in North America known for its speed and agility
What is a "pronghorn"?
The pronghorn is a medium-sized ungulate characterized by its slender build, reddish-brown coat, and unique branched horns, called prongs, that adorn its head. They have a white face and belly, with a dark stripe running down the neck, and large, round eyes that provide excellent vision. Pronghorns are known for their incredible speed, capable of reaching speeds up to 60 miles per hour, making them one of the fastest land animals in the world. They are also known for their remarkable endurance, able to sustain high speeds over long distances. Pronghorns are herbivorous grazers, feeding on grasses, forbs, and shrubs, and are well-adapted to their arid and grassland habitats in North America.
