Definition & Meaning of "holography"

Holography
01

a photographic technique that involves using laser light to create a three-dimensional image, or hologram, of an object by recording the interference pattern created by the beam of light reflected off the object

What is "holography"?

Holography is a technique that creates three-dimensional images, known as holograms, by recording and reconstructing light waves. Unlike regular photographs, which capture just the intensity of light, holography records both the intensity and the direction of light waves. When viewed under proper lighting, a hologram appears as a realistic three-dimensional image that can be seen from different angles, as if the object were physically present. Holography is used in various fields, including art, data storage, security, such as on credit cards, and scientific imaging.
