What is a "double fault"?

A double fault occurs in tennis when a player fails to successfully serve the ball into the correct area of the service box twice in a row. On the first serve, the player is allowed one mistake, but if the second serve also fails, it results in a double fault. This results in the loss of the point. A double fault can happen due to a variety of reasons, such as hitting the ball out of bounds or into the net, and it is generally seen as a mistake made by the player.
