What is a "cub?

A cub is a term used to describe the young of certain carnivorous mammals, such as bears, lions, tigers, and wolves. Cubs are born helpless and require intensive care from their mothers for survival. As they grow, they learn to hunt and fend for themselves, developing the skills necessary to become independent adults.
