It is used in Pennsylvania (especially the Philadelphia area and surrounding states) to mean going to an ATM to withdraw cash, regardless of the actual network. People typically say "I need to hit the MAC before we go out" or "Let me hit the MAC real quick." The term originated in the 1970s and 1980s when the MAC network was widely used and branded throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey, and though the network has since been absorbed, the slang persists locally.
