What is "Broca's area"?
Broca's area is a region located in the frontal lobe of the brain, specifically in the left hemisphere for most individuals. It plays a vital role in the production of speech and language. Broca's area is responsible for coordinating the movements of the muscles involved in speech, including the tongue, lips, and jaw. It is involved in the formulation and articulation of words and sentences, as well as the processing of grammar and syntax. Damage to Broca's area can result in difficulties with speech production, leading to a condition known as Broca's aphasia.
