Double contact
01
a violation where a volleyball player hits the ball twice in a row during a single play
What is a "double contact"?
A double contact in volleyball occurs when a player hits the ball twice in succession, either with one hand or with both hands. This is against the rules, as players are only allowed to hit the ball once before passing it to a teammate. Double contacts can happen during a set if the ball touches the player's hands unevenly or if the player accidentally touches the ball twice in quick succession. When a double contact is called, the opposing team is awarded a point, and the team committing the error loses possession of the ball.
