What is "nerikomi"?
Nerikomi is a Japanese ceramic technique where different colored clays are layered, mixed, and then shaped to create delicate and colorful patterns in the ceramic piece. The process involves preparing multiple colors of clay, stacking or mixing them in various ways, and then cutting and putting them back together to form designs. These patterns are visible both on the surface and inside the ceramic, resulting in visually impressive and detailed patterns when the piece is heated.
