the various techniques used to shape and form clay into usable ceramic products like pots, vases, tiles, sculptures, and more
What is "ceramic forming"?
Ceramic forming refers to the different methods used to shape clay into ceramic items. These techniques include hand-building, where clay is shaped by hand; wheel throwing, where the clay is spun on a potter’s wheel to form items; and molding, where clay is pressed into a pre-made shape. After shaping, the clay is dried and then fired in a kiln, which is a special oven that heats the clay to high temperatures to harden it. These methods allow artists and potters to create a wide range of ceramic objects, from simple bowls and vases to delicate sculptures and tiles.
