What is a "pivot turn"?
A pivot turn is a dance movement where the dancer rotates on one foot while the other foot remains in place or moves slightly. To perform a pivot turn, the dancer steps forward or backward, places weight on one foot, and then turns their body around, using the pivoting foot to help guide the rotation. This movement allows the dancer to change direction smoothly while maintaining balance and control. Pivot turns are commonly used in various dance styles, including ballroom and jazz, to add dynamic changes in direction and enhance the flow of the dance.
