a musical instrument resembling a small harp that employs a button-controlled mechanism for selecting chords
What is an "autoharp"?
An autoharp is a stringed musical instrument with a rectangular or trapezoidal shape, equipped with a series of strings and chord bars. The player strums the strings with one hand while pressing down on the chord bars with the other hand to change the pitch and produce specific chords. This design makes it relatively easy to play, as the chord bars mute the strings not in use, allowing for quick and accurate chord changes. The autoharp is known for its rich, resonant sound and is commonly used in folk, country, and traditional music.
