What is "sparkling water"?

Sparkling water is drinking water that has been infused with carbon dioxide, giving it effervescence and a bubbly texture. It can be naturally carbonated by transporting water through rock formations containing carbon dioxide,or carbonated artificially through mechanical processes that dissolve carbon dioxide into the water under pressure.
