What is a "sea anemone"?

A sea anemone is a stationary marine animal that belongs to the phylum Cnidaria, similar to corals and jellyfish. It has a cylindrical body with a central mouth surrounded by tentacles. Sea anemones are usually attached to rocks or other substrates on the ocean floor using a muscular base called a pedal disc. They come in various sizes, shapes, and colors, and can be found in oceans worldwide. Sea anemones have a symbiotic relationship with clownfish, where the fish live among the tentacles for protection while providing food and nutrients to the anemone. They capture prey, such as small fish and invertebrates, using stinging cells called cnidocytes located on their tentacles.
