What is a "flyleaf"?

A flyleaf is a blank or decorative page at the beginning or end of a book, next to the inside covers. The front flyleaf is usually the first page of the book after the endpapers, and the back flyleaf is found before the final endpaper. Flyleaves may be used for personal inscriptions, labels, or notes, and sometimes include additional information or designs. They help to enhance the book's presentation and can also serve as a buffer between the cover and the main content.
