What is "Arimaa"?
Arimaa is a two-player abstract strategy board game, similar to chess, but with a few key differences. The game is played on an 8x8 board, and each player starts with 16 pieces: one camel, two horses, two dogs, two cats, two rabbits, and a king. The goal is to move one of your rabbits to the opponent’s home row or to capture all of their pieces. Unlike chess, pieces do not have fixed movements; instead, players can push, pull, or slide pieces, and the animals have different strengths. The game requires strategic thinking, as players must balance defense and offense to outmaneuver their opponent.
Example
The camel in Arimaa is one of the strongest pieces, able to move long distances.
After learning the rules of chess, I decided to try Arimaa for a change of pace.
