What is "Five Hundred"?

Five Hundred is a card game that originated in the United States in the early 20th century. It is usually played by four players, though there are versions for three to six players. The game usually uses a 43-card deck, which includes cards from 7 to Ace in all four suits, plus a Joker. The goal is to be the first to reach a set number of points, usually 500. Players bid on the number of rounds they believe they can win based on their hand, and the highest bidder becomes the "dealer" who sets the trump suit.
