What is a "whitetail"?
The whitetail, also known as the white-tailed deer, is a species of deer native to North America. It is a medium-sized deer with a reddish-brown coat during the summer that turns to a grayish-brown in winter. One of its most distinctive features is its large, fan-shaped tail, which is usually brown on top and white on the underside. The white tail is often raised and wagged when the deer is alarmed or running. Whitetails are known for their keen senses, including excellent eyesight and hearing, which help them detect potential threats in their environment. They are herbivores, feeding on a variety of plants, and are known for their ability to adapt to different habitats, including forests, grasslands, and wetlands.
