What is a "superspreader"?

A superspreader is an individual who infects a much larger number of people with a contagious disease compared to the average person. This can happen due to factors such as having a high amount of the virus, frequently being around others, attending large gatherings, or doing things that make the disease spread quickly. Superspreaders play a great role in making the disease spread faster within communities or populations. Efforts to control outbreaks often involve finding and isolating superspreaders and taking steps to limit how much they spread the disease.
