What is a "lacewing"?
A lacewing is a delicate insect belonging to the family Chrysopidae. It is named for its intricate, lace-like wings. Lacewings are beneficial predators, primarily targeting aphids and other small insects as their prey. They have long, slender bodies and large, prominent eyes. Lacewing larvae, often referred to as aphid lions, are voracious predators that use their sickle-shaped jaws to capture and feed on aphids and other soft-bodied insects. Adult lacewings, on the other hand, primarily feed on nectar and pollen. They are commonly found in gardens, meadows, and other habitats with ample vegetation.
