In the late 20th century, primarily within some Black communities, "nigga" was reappropriated as a term of camaraderie, friendship, or endearment among peers. Its use is context-dependent: it can be neutral or affectionate within the community, but it remains highly offensive and unacceptable when used by outsiders or in general contexts.
