What is "unbleached flour"?
Unbleached flour is a type of wheat flour that has not undergone the bleaching process commonly used in the production of white flour. Unlike bleached flour, which is treated with chemical agents to whiten its color and improve its texture, unbleached flour retains its natural color and texture. It is made from the endosperm of the wheat kernel and contains the bran and germ, providing additional nutrients and fiber compared to refined white flour. Unbleached flour prized for its slightly denser texture and nuttier flavor compared to bleached flour. While unbleached flour may have a slightly darker color and coarser texture than bleached flour, it is equally versatile and can be used interchangeably in most recipes that call for all-purpose flour.
