What is a "springbok"?

The springbok is a graceful and agile antelope species found in southern Africa. They are known for their distinctive appearance, with a sandy to light brown coat adorned with white markings on their face, neck, and body. The most notable feature of the springbok is its unique jumping behavior, where it can leap into the air with all four feet off the ground, reaching heights of up to 3 meters (10 feet). This jumping behavior, known as "pronking," is often displayed during social interactions, mating rituals, or when startled. Springboks are social animals that form large herds, and their ability to cover long distances at high speeds makes them highly adapted to their arid and grassy habitats.
